Feeding Communities Together

Banyan Tree Phuket played their part for World Food Day 2018 by inviting the elderly community from Paklok to a delicious lunch at Watercourt Restaurant. For the month of October, a total of 2,000 meals were delivered to the community in Paklok, echoing United Nation's mission of achieving zero-hunger.

Cleaning Up the Mess

There is no doubt that the beaches of the Mexican Caribbean are beautiful, but they face the same issues as the other beaches around the world – littered and filled with debris washed up on the shore. At the end of September, a group of volunteers set out to clean Tankah beach at Tulum National Park, a popular nesting site for sea turtles. After four hours of work, 30 volunteers from Banyan Tree Mayakoba and Complejo Mayakoba collected over 150 kg of waste.

Triathlon’s Success!

The 25th Laguna Phuket Triathlon concluded last weekend and the resort had the honour of having the Advisor of Tourism and Sports Khun Apichart Cirabandhu grace the event. Other dignitaries included Former Minister of Tourism and Sports, Dr. Kobkarn Wattanawarangkul, the Governor of Phuket Mr. Phakapong Tavipatana and Mr. Adul Choothong, Chief of Thalang District. For the first time in 25 years, a Swedish athlete – Mr Fredrik Croneborg – clinched the champion title. Laguna Phuket Charity Ambassador Khun Koy – a reknown Thai actress and inspiring celebrity runner – participated in the Charity Fun Run. The Run had more than 1,500 runners and raised 250,000 baht for Laguna Phuket’s Children First Fund, helping more than 400 children across seven Phuket orphanages.

Caring for the Environment

Banyan Tree Sanya held a beach and community clean-up on 8 and 9 November. Apart from cleaning, the volunteer associates and guests learnt about protecting corals. At the end, they collected more than 50kg of debris.
