Angsana Tengchong

Immerse in Tengchong's natural wonders, savor millennia-steeped cultural legacy.

Tengchong, a border town steeped in millennia of cultural heritage, is also endowed with unparalleled natural abundance. At Angsana Tengchong, we preserve the rich tapestry of intangible cultural heritage with guests. Adjacent to Gaoligong Mountain—renowned as the "World Species Gene Bank"—we invite you to embark on a journey into nature's mystical realm.

Longxiaxi Trekking - A Walk Through Time and forest

Venture deep into the heart of the Gaoligong Mountains—hailed as a "global gene bank of species"—for an immersive journey into biodiversity. Follow ancient mountain trails through the Longxiaxi hiking route, weaving between dense forests and flowing waters, with birdsong and insect calls echoing in the air. The lush landscape of Tengchong’s primeval forest pulses with life, offering glimpses of rare plants and traces of wild creatures along the way.

At the trail’s end lies a moss-covered stone bridge, built during the Xianfeng reign of the Qing Dynasty, its weathered surface and flower-filled crevices whispering stories of time gone by. Crossing the bridge slowly, guests experience a quiet moment of reflection—measuring the gentleness and timeless rhythm of nature, step by step, between mountains and streams.

Crafting Culture on Oil Paper Umbrellas

The oil paper umbrella, a distinctive intangible cultural heritage of Tengchong, carries the region’s rich history and cultural essence. Angsana Guides lead guests on a unique journey to experience this traditional craft firsthand. Guests personally paint their favorite designs, unleashing creativity and color on the pristine white surface of the umbrella, where traditional craftsmanship meets modern aesthetics. Afterward, the umbrella is coated with tung oil and patiently dried, transforming each piece into a one-of-a-kind work of art that reflects the guest’s creativity and respect for Tengchong’s culture. These finished umbrellas make precious keepsakes to take home—lasting mementos of the journey and meaningful support for the preservation and continuation of this treasured heritage.

Botanical Impressions of Gaoligong-Topiaries of Plant Leaves

The Gaoligong Mountains, known as the "World’s Species Gene Bank," nurture a rich diversity of plant life. The hotel invites guests to venture into the forest and handpick a variety of leaves and flowers, bringing the colors and textures of nature into their daily lives. In the botanical dyeing experience, the collected foliage is gently placed onto a pristine white handkerchief. Through a process of pounding and printing, the shapes and natural hues of the plants are perfectly transferred onto the fabric, preserving the intricate details and vitality of each leaf and flower. Every handkerchief becomes a unique natural painting and a miniature reflection of the “World’s Species Gene Bank,” embodying the ecological diversity of the Gaoligong Mountains.
