Crafting Culture on Oil Paper Umbrellas
The oil paper umbrella, a distinctive intangible cultural heritage of Tengchong, carries the region’s rich history and cultural essence. Angsana Guides lead guests on a unique journey to experience this traditional craft firsthand. Guests personally paint their favorite designs, unleashing creativity and color on the pristine white surface of the umbrella, where traditional craftsmanship meets modern aesthetics. Afterward, the umbrella is coated with tung oil and patiently dried, transforming each piece into a one-of-a-kind work of art that reflects the guest’s creativity and respect for Tengchong’s culture.
