Insiders Tips
Palm Cove is the perfect destination to jump off to the two world heritage listed regions in Tropical North Queensland. Half way between the Great Barrier Reef departures and the Daintree Rainforest, from Palm Cove you can experience all that the region has to offer.
Dive, Snorkel, Fly – Great Barrier Reef
Great Barrier Reef tours and cruises offer a range of activities including snorkelling, introductory or certified scuba diving, and live aboard dive courses with multi lingual, professional tutorage. For those who prefer to stay dry, spacious pontoons, semi submersible and glass bottom vessels provide popular introductions to the Great Barrier Reef, and helmet dives and motorised underwater scooters allow you to reach the ocean floor without getting your hair wet! Or why not try a helicopter ride over the reef for a whole different perspective. They make fantastic holiday photos, too.
Rainforest
Be enchanted by the beauty, life and tranquillity of the world’s oldest surviving tropical rainforests – as old as the dinosaurs. Over 97 per cent of land in the tropical north is protected including areas in the Daintree rainforests to the north, the tropical Atherton Tablelands, Kuranda to the west and Mission Beach to the south.
The tropical Rainforests offer a variety of eco-tourism activities. The Kuranda Village which is set high in the hills surrounded by rainforest featuring the world famous Skyrail Rainforest Cableway which glides over the rainforest canopy is only a short distance from the resort
Thanks to boardwalk access, you can guide yourself or join a tour through much of the Rainforest found in the region or take an escorted tour in this living museums rich with thousands of flora, fauna, species of marsupials, reptiles, birds and butterflies that have survived natural disasters and climate change for over 135 million years.
